"Facing the Giants" is a good Christian film about the power of prayer and the importance of God in our everyday lives. The main character is a high school football coach for whom nothing is going well. He's suffering and seems lost. When he turns to God and seeks to do everything for Him, God uses him to bring Christ into the lives of his players and his community. While getting that message across, it remains a good mix of humor and entertainment. I should mention that the movie is definitely not Catholic. There are a few things in the film that seem a little wrong, from a Catholic's point of view. We don't always get material wealth as the fruit of our prayers, as in the movie. And there is a hint of "Sola Scriptura" present, along with consideration in vitro fertilization as a viable option. But these are not dwelt upon and the film is in no way anti-Catholic. Overall, an uplifting film that has appeal for younger people. I give it a 3.5 out of 5.
